Classes

Registering for classes: You can register for classes at the store or over the phone. Class fees must be paid in full in order to reserve your seat. Cancellations one (1) week or more prior to a scheduled class will receive a full refund; cancellations less than one week before class will receive store credit. Please note that if you do not show up for, or call to cancel a class that you have registered for, your class fee is non-refundable. If you are not able to attend a class on its currently scheduled date, ask us about scheduling another session! If there is a technique you would like to learn that is not in our regularly scheduled classes, we can schedule a private class; call or come in for pricing and details! You will receive 10% off any materials purchased the day of the class (excluding PMC and other metal clay products, artisan beads, class registration, and gift certificates. Cannot be combined with other offers.). REMINDER: We just want to take a moment to remind everyone that class fees must be paid in full at the time you reserve your spot. This requirement is necessary for us to keep our book keeping in proper order, and to ensure that everyone who wishes to take any given class has the opportunity to do so. Please don't ask for exceptions, as this puts us in a difficult position. In order to make the payment process convenient for you, we gladly accept credit card payments over the phone. NOTE: You may have noticed that several of our classes are marked with “Previous bead-weaving experience required.” The skill level for these classes is intermediate or above; in order to cover all the techniques defined in the scope of the class within the specified time-frame, students will need to know certain techniques before taking the class. These “prerequisites” are necessary to make the class experience fun and successful for everyone. We are happy to let you know what skills you need before signing up! We are now offering classes on Sundays! In order help accommodate everyone's busy schedules, we are happy to announce that we now have classes scheduled on Sundays! Sunday classes will begin at 11:30am and will generally run until 2:30pm. We hope this opens up more opportunities for everyone who wants to take classes with us!

Introducing a brand new technique to Artful Beads Classes!! Enameling is fusing glass to metal, in this case copper. In this class you will learn to create a domed piece of copper using a dapping block and other fun tools. Then you will apply the enamel powder to the copper discs using the torch and a special method to achieve fun, bright colors to the copper metal. You can combine different colors together to accomplish multi-dimensional effects on the metal. You will also make your own sterling silver ear wires to complete the unique appeal of these dangling earrings! Cost of the class is $50 plus materials.

In this class you will learn the bead weaving technique of Russian Spiral Rope! You will create a bracelet using varying sizes of seed beads and then graduate to a larger, sparkling crystal to add visual texture to this stunning bracelet. This can also be made into a necklace using various sizes of beads to create a diversity of jewelry in every color palette! Cost of the class is $45 plus materials.

The cubed seed beads in the base of this tightly knit woven bracelet form a silky, fabric like texture that is so comfortable to wear. Adorned on the top of the bracelet are the sparkling treasures. In this class you will learn to weave a bracelet using Czech fire polish crystals, Swarovski crystals or pearls together for an extraordinary effect on the wrist. Using any beads of your choice, you will learn to create a loop and coil at the top of a headpin and attach it to an earring wire. By the end of the class you will be a pro at wire wrapping loops! Using an assortment of sizes of crystals and seed beads, you will create an elegant ‘chain’ of beads with a helical type spiral running through it. An unbelievable material to work with, Copper Clay is the latest addition to the metal clay world. This Fast Fire Copper Clay fires in about 4 hours and is wonderful to work with. Once fired the pieces are a beautiful pinky/copper color and can be antiqued for a vintage look or left shiny for a more modern look. In this class you will use beads and brass wire that is hammered and shaped to form the bangle portion of the bracelet. You will use rings embellished with charms for the rest of the bracelet. Our Metalworking Series!!! Our Metalworking Series is ever-expanding! We have classes that will introduce you to various techniques for connecting metals together, including fusing fine silver wire, riveting, forging, and soldering. In these classes, you will learn how to transform the most basic of materials into spectacular necklaces, earrings and bracelets! With this knowledge, the possibilities truly become endless! Class size will be limited to Four students. Please note, we will be working with a small propane torch in many of our metalworking classes. Long hair (shoulder-length or longer) MUST be tied back, and loose-fitting clothing is not permitted.

Using sterling silver bezel wire and sheet metal you will create a base for the pendant from scratch. You will then adorn this bezel with metal accents using various soldering techniques. The twist to this project is that you can set a stone cabochon or design your own using resin and fancy paper! These skills can be applied to bracelets and earrings to create your own custom designed collection! Cost of the class is $60 plus materials. Previous soldering experience required.
Click image to enlarge	Stacking Finger Rings with Gemstones Choose one: Friday, December 30^th, 10:30am-2:30pm; Wednesday, February 22^nd, 10:30am-2:30pm.. Stacking finger rings are all the rage these days! In this class, you will be making 5 separate rings; two of the rings will be plain silver bands, two will feature 4mm cabachons set in sterling silver bezel cups, and one will have a 6mm cabochon. This is a great way to get the look of a wide band, but with the option of wearing the rings separately, too! Cost of the class is $65 plus materials. Previous soldering experience required.

We will be making three bangles during the class, any or all of which can have beads floating on them. Once the wire is soldered into a solid bangle, the piece will be textured and shaped. These links will be used to join together brass and copper rings of various sizes. You will texture each ring, and the entire piece will be dipped in a patina solution to enhance the details. No two bracelets will be alike. This is an ideal project for learning the technique of soldering! Cost of the class is $55 plus materials.

In this project the clasp is the focal point of the bracelet! You will use copper or brass sheet metal to create an oversized clasp that is not only ornate, but functional. You will hammer and texture it to make it unique to your own style and then you will solder a fancy bezel cup onto the surface. As a bonus, you will create your own textured heavy gauge jump rings to complete this fantastic bracelet. You can choose form copper, brass and sterling to give this cuff visual texture. The design for this hand forged cuff bracelet was inspired by jewelry from centuries past. It is custom made to fit your wrist and then textured and antiqued to give it a vintage appearance. Then the real fun begins. You will use antiqued wire to wrap beads around the cuff as the focal for the bracelet. You can combine gemstones with glass bead and even some metal for a diverse appearance. Cost of the class is $55 plus materials.

In this class you will hand forge heavy gauge silver wire into a cuff bracelet for the main focal of the bracelet. You will then create a wrap using cord, beads, metal and knots to make the band that will wrap around your wrist several times. This bracelet will look like you are wearing multiple pieces together and you will impress all of your friends with your innovative and trendy creation!! Cost of the class is $60 plus materials.
Riveting Classes!!!
Click image to enlarge	Brilliant Chaos Necklace Friday, February 3^rd, 10:30am-2:30pm. Every artist knows that you can work with a little chaos as long as it’s organized chaos. That is exactly what you will find with this funky, oversized necklace! Using a variety of metals you will create a linked chain using both soldering and riveting techniques. You will also use sheet metal to create three dimensional links with dangling charms for a change in visual texture. The whole necklace comes together beautifully with the addition of beads and macramé cord techniques. Cost of the class is $60 plus materials.
*Introducing our new Mini Kit Classes* Our mini classes are shorter, smaller projects than can be completed in less than an hour and a half. Kits will be included in the class fee with multiple color ways to choose from. Skill levels for Mini Classes range from Beginner to Experienced.

In less than one hour you can create a beautiful, simplistic pair of Sterling Silver earrings that are perfect for everyday wear. You will use the torch to create a detail on the end of the wire and then use the hammer to forge and shape the ear wires.
